No fewer than 120 small and medium scale entrepreneurs in Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District have benefitted from the sensitisation program on Agric Business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS).

The sensitisation workshop, carried out by Gishirin Ma’aurata Skill Acquisition Centre, an accredited Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), in Hadejia, was sponsored by the senator representing the Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, through his foundation, Shatima Fund.

The workshop tagged “Re-positioning your business for AGSMEIS loan” was aimed at educating the small scale business holders on how to successfully apply to secure the loan as well as how to utilize it to improve their businesses.

In his address at the workshop, the senator said it became imperative to sensitise the people on the scheme as many of such schemes had escaped the people of the area because they were either not aware of it or they failed to apply correctly.

“Even the COVID-19 loan, it was in the papers that I read that 47,000 have applied and it was closed. That baffled me and I had to investigate and eventually found out that not less than 11,000 had visited the NIRSAL website, so I took the issue to the Senate President who directed for an investigation and eventually they admitted that they made a mistake and it was opened again,” he said.
